The app is distributed on the App Store and Google Play by North Boutique Studios Ltd.. The controller named above answers for the service and for personal data.

The service

Layr is an information service. It reads the ingredients a product declares and shows what public authorities have recorded about them, with the source. It sells no products and recommends none; the optional Layr Premium subscription is described below.

The score is not a safety label and not a sustainability label. It counts indexed findings. It does not say a product is safe, healthy, or environmentally preferable.

Layr does not diagnose and does not give personal health advice. Missing evidence is not proof that something is safe.

Use

Use the app and these pages for yourself. The catalogue may not be extracted in bulk or resold; interfering with the service or with the app's device attestation is not permitted. Access to the interface is through the app.

Your account

Signing in uses your Apple or Google account. You can export or delete your data at any time; the privacy page says how.

Contributions

What you contribute — label text, photos, product details — is published in the catalogue without your name once it has been reviewed. You confirm that you may share it. Accepted evidence can remain after you delete your account, without the account.

Sources

Every finding names its authority. Some product records derive from Open Beauty Facts and Open Food Facts, used under the Open Database License, and are marked as such.

Products sold by the operator of Layr are scored, and they are left out of the comparisons that judge other products. A Layr score is not a claim the operator may quote about its own goods.

Layr Premium

Layr Premium is an optional subscription that adds tools around the evidence: change alerts, shelves, comparison, hide mode and profiles, an offline Cabinet, journal depth and product dossiers. Everything that tells you what is in a product and what authorities say about it stays free: scores, findings, sources, label checks and the flags from your own list. Premium never changes a score, never hides a finding and never affects how a contribution is reviewed.

You buy Premium in the app through the Apple App Store or Google Play. The price, the billing period and any free trial are shown before you confirm. The store takes the payment under its own terms. A subscription renews automatically for the same period until you cancel it in your store account settings, at least 24 hours before the current period ends. A free trial becomes a paid subscription at its end unless you cancel before then. Where the store offers family sharing, the yearly plan can be shared through it.

Your statutory consumer rights, including a right of withdrawal where it applies, are unaffected. Refunds and withdrawals for purchases made through a store are handled by that store under its procedure.

We may develop Premium further. If we remove a substantial part of what you pay for, we tell you in the app beforehand, and you can cancel. Price changes are made only through the store, which asks for your consent where the law requires it.

When Premium ends, nothing you made is deleted: shelves, profiles, journal entries and photos stay with your account or on your phone, and the Premium tools are locked again.

Liability

Layr is provided as it is. As far as the law allows, we are not liable for decisions taken on the basis of a result. Liability for intent, gross negligence, injury to life, body or health, and under product liability law is not limited by this.

Changes

We may change the service and these terms. Material changes are announced in the app before they apply. You can stop using Layr at any time.

Applicable law

German law applies. If you live elsewhere in the EU, the mandatory consumer protections of your country of residence are unaffected. We do not take part in dispute resolution before a consumer arbitration board.
